Bubbles

Every summer one of our favourite garden activies is bubbles. Thanks to blue peter I have a extra ingredient to make them extra bubbly.I add a slosh of glycerin to fairy and water. Glycerin is available in some chemists. I am not sure what it is for medically but it works with bubbles anyhow. One bottle lasts all summer.
Fun for all ages.

Dublin Zoo

Last week we took advantage of the Easter holidays and good weather for a trip to the zoo.
The zoo has come on in leaps and bounds since I first visited as a kid. The enclosures are huge and the viewing areas have glass which is kept clear making amanial spotting very easy. We arrived as they were opening at 9.30 and didnt finish our visit until afte 3. There are lots of play areas though next time I will bring spare socks as my grandson dosent like sand in his toe toes.
It is funny to see the familar faces of the staff since the tv series, I wish they didnt drive around on golf carts so much they go very fast and make it hard to relax as children havent the sense to watch out for them. Dublin Zoo is a great day out.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to everyone who reads my blog.

Wonderful Barn Leixlip Kildare.

I have lived in Leixlip for a while now but this was my first visit to the Wondrerful Barn. The town Council were having a family day so we took the opportunity to visit.
The barn was built as a grain store after the big frost. There are also two smaller but similar structures which were dovecotes. Elm, wild roses and plum are among the trees are in the grounds. It was a beautiful sunny day. The entrance is on Celbridge road leixlip. The council have allotments there.

The hole in the middle of the ceiling for sacks of grain to be hauled up.

Dovecote
The Doves were kept to eat the grain that was dropped during loading.
The doves were eaten thus nothing was wasted.

Museum of Vintage Radio and Communications Howth Co Dublin.

On Sunday I took the Dart to Howth, It was the last class in my Photography Course, a field trip to Howth Harbor
I was at a lose end after the lesson, as my hubby was in work so I took a walk around Howth taking a few photographs. Usually we walk along the Harbor wall but I decided to walk up the hill instead.
I was delighted to happen upon a fascinating museum of communications.  Situated in the Martello tower. It is great to see old radios, record players, gramophones, televisions and Morse code machines but it is even better to see them working.
The guide was well informed and passionate about the history of all the artifacts.
The Tour cost €5
The view of Howth is breathtaking.
