A day out in Bray on the cliff walk.

On Sunday it was such a nice day we headed for Bray. We ended up walking along the cliff walk a small part of the way.

New plants and old.

I bought four plants in Woodies Liffey valley Lilly of the valley Wallflowers and Alcea Chater's double.
I got all four plants for €8 in the clearance section in the back. I was watching an old episode of Gardeners world the other night and was inspired to go for a color theme of yellow. For once I was not my usual procrastinating  self  I potted them as soon as I got home. I had peas in the pot last year, so I just popped them into that compost.
I am happy with the Daffodils in the garden this year.
I planted them when we had just moved in here 10 years ago.

Plant bargains

You would think I have a great green finger but sadly it is not true. It dose not stop me from purchasing any bargain plaints I spot no matter how half dead it is. I love a bargain.
Fern was one euro.

This little Cactus was €2.50 with the cute Simpsons pot thrown in free.
The Fern seeds have germinated at last.

Tracing my Ancestors

I went to a tracing your ancestors workshop in my local library. It was given by Mario Corrigan.
He gave lots of sound advice and some websites I didn't know about.
http://www.familyhistoryshow.net

Mario says 'Use Google it is your friend' and when searching use the 'how to use' button when searching databases. Start searching for someone you know the details of to see how the website works. For example if you Search for Éamon de Valera on the census you won't find him because he in in it as Edward .

Is a monthly online magazine, they focus on a different county each month so look at their archives to see area you are interested in.

Even though your family might not be from Northern Ireland , if they lived or worked for an landlord there might be some useful information here.  http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/search_the_archives.htm

I love maps so http://maps.osi.ie is a great website to see what places looked like years ago. It's fun to see where your house is now when it was just fields.
